Some of my favorite songs…
1950’s songs took hold of the nation and created a new stepping stone for the music industry indefinitely. These were the first days of pushing the envelope publicly and fighting to play what had previously been thought of as inappropriate and “devil music”. As stars like Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, and Ray Charles took to the charts, music was forever changed, creating a world that would never go back to the submissive communities that had no opinion.
“All Shook Up” by Elvis Presley was one of the most influential songs of the 50’s and still to this day there isn’t a person you can find that doesn’t know the song. In actuality, you can likely even find children that can perform a little dance to the keywords of the song “I’m all shook up…”, which is amazing for a song that is in its sixth decade.
“Tutti Fruitti” by Little Richard was another great favorite of the time that still can be heard throughout communities everywhere. One of the songs from the 50’s that everyone knows, this is a great soundtrack song for movies and still reflects the fame that it gained way back when. Little Richard was a strong force in the 50’s with many fans that are still loyal to the great singer.
“Whole Lot of Shakin’ Going On” by Jerry Lee Lewis was on fire in the 50’s and one of the greatest party songs, up there with “Hound Dog” by Elvis Presley. This song created fire on the music charts as Jerry Lee Lewis created fire in the media. Most known for his cousin to cousin relationship offset by his fierce love for rock’n’roll, Jerry Lee Lewis gave this song life that will never die. To this day, you really can’t find many people that aren’t aware of the song in its entirety.
